Sotkamo library also has a self-service library outside the service hours.

Customer service is open from 10 am to 6 pm from Monday to Friday.
Self-service times
- From Monday to Friday 7 am to 10 am
- On Saturdays and Sundays from 7 am to 12 pm
To access library during self-service hours you need a library card and a PIN code. Use the sign-in unit next to the front door to check in. If you don’t have a PIN code to your library card, you can get from the service desk during service hours.
Exceptions to the opening hours
We regret to inform you that there will be temporary restrictions on self-service hours at our library. On weekday evenings, there will be no self-service at all, meaning the library will close at 6 pm. There will be no change to self-service hours on weekday mornings. At weekends, self-service is available from 7 am to 12 noon. These restricted self-service opening hours will come into effect on Monday 5 October 2026.
We are restricting the self-service library’s opening hours due to the recent increase in littering, noise and other bad behaviour by young people. Under Section 13 of the Libraries Act, library users must behave appropriately in the library. We hope that parents and carers will discuss with their children and young people how to behave in the library and in public places.
